I spent four days showing mum and dad the wonders of my second home. We walked miles along the River Seine embankment. I dragged them to the little cafe across from the Notre Dame that sells the best ice-creams in Paris. I know this for a fact because I've tasted the summery goodness every stall has to offer from Montmartre to the Eiffel Tower.

Thursday morning::
Mum today, we're raiding bakeries.
Me they're called patisseries.
Mum good. Seeings you know French, you can make the orders.
It's embarrassing even in a foreign country having both your parents hide behind you, while gently shoving you in the direction of an old, toothless wench behind the shop counter.

In all my adventures, I've spent 15 days in Paris; always in the heat. But Friday with my parents, it rained.  It was miserable, and wet and cold. But I was happy. So happy. We sat in a cafe, sipping white chocolate mochas, watching the crowds quickly disperse, some running in to the Big M and others disappearing in to little sheltered alleyways. There were some gypsy children, about a dozen, no more than ten years old, trying to find shelter from the sudden downpour, they stuck their heads in to the cafe but were quickly shooed away by the baristas. They ended up under the dripping eaves of the buildings across the road.

  2. Jess, surely dead skeletons are better than live ones?
